TRAVELING WITH FOOD ON THE AIRPLANE

Is it that time when you are preparing your bags to travel, and you are not sure if you can bring food with you?

Well, I am here to remind you that you absolutely CAN bring solid food with you inside the plane. As long as it is properly packed, it can be in your bags, your carry-on, and in the usual documented luggage.

It is not a lie that at some point we all have gotten hungry during a flight, and like many, I am one of those that gets hungry or snacky as soon as the plane takes off; and being able to bring food with me have been life saving for many reasons.

I am a person who likes to buy food as souvenirs from my trips and as presents for my friends and family, so knowing that solid food is allowed in my carry-on helps whenever the weight on my luggage reaches its allowed limit and, I don’t need to worry for that weight as I can always put some of the food in my backpack. When doing that you have the advantage of having the food and snacks that you like on board, which can save you some extra bucks from the food offered by the airlines or if you need to accommodate your diet to specific ingredients.

You can bring in your carry-on, liquid or gel food items for up to 3.4oz/100 ml., and certain powders and granular materials (e.g., baking powder, baking soda, salt, etc.) limited to a total quantity of 350 ml or less.

You can always confirm which items are allowed in your carry-on and luggage in the website of the airlines, as well as in the governmental pages of the country you are travelling to.

For traveling to Canada, the government of Canada has more information about the items you can bring during your travel on the below pages.
